Support us

Help us achieve impact using your institute sponsoring or charitable fund by recommending a gift to the International Heat Flow Commission (IHFC). Support our work and develop publicly-accessible global databases on heat flow, subsurface temperature, and thermal rock properties to accelerate the growth of geothermal energy, subsurface geoenergy exploration and geodynamic understanding.

We offer the option of a customizable fund or a specific fellowship donation (Learn more, pdf), to support the IHFC heatflow.fellowship program (Learn more, link to heatflow.world/fellowship) For detailed instructions, donation receipts or should you have questions or need assistance, please reach out to us at sponsoring@ihfc-iugg.org

What will my donation support?

The IHFC is a scientific committee within the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) focused on quality-controlled geothermal data, making an exponential impact on the science and geoenergy industry. This crucial work not only accelerates the scientific understanding and the growth of geodynamic knowledge and sustainable geothermal energy worldwide but also catalyzes significant developments in the geoenergy sector.

Donations directly fund our work to maintain and develop further the global databases on heat flow, subsurface temperature, and thermal rock properties to accelerate the growth of geodynamic understanding and geothermal energy globally. Your donations also support the education of the next generation of heat-low researchers and the knowledge transfer into academia and industry.

Partner Privacy The IHFC respects the privacy of our partners and supporters. We will list partner names only with their consent and will not sell or share further information outside of our commission.

What is our goal From 2022 to 2024, our initiative spent the equivalent of 11 full-time scientist years to revise and quality assure half of the Global Heat Flow Database (cf. Release 2024). Our fellowship grants (min. 3 months each; Read about fellowship grants / pdf) are one effective tool to support the community on that way. For the next years, we intend to grant another 40 fellowships, to host standardization workshops as well as training programs and summer schools.

What is our legal status?

The International Heat Flow Commission (IHFC) is a scientific commission established under the guidelines of the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth’s Interior (IASPEI), which is one of the eight associations of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). The IASPEI is a registered as a non-governmental and non-profit international organization in Norway (Org. Num.: 916 047 495), while the IUGG is an international non-governmental organization (registered as a voluntary association under Danish law (CVR: 26430828).
