Upload Your Data to the Global Heat Flow Database
Contribute to the Global Heat Flow Database (GHFDB) and support the scientific community in advancing geothermal and geodynamic research. By uploading your heat flow measurements, metadata, and related literature, you help maintain a high-quality, globally accessible dataset for researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals.
Workflow for data from publications
Step 1 - Read the data submission guideline
Step 2 - Use our data submission templates to organize your data according to the official metadata scheme. Fill in the template with as much information as possible.
Optional - If you are a Python user, you can help us by pre-controlling your data with our Heat Flow Quality Analysis Toolbox
Step 3 - Submit:
- your data (in the template file)
- the original study (paper, report, thesis, etc.) as pdf additional information, required for the interpretation of the data, which are not part of the study pdf submitted under point 2.
Step 4 - Once submitted, our team will review the data and provide feedback or clarification requests if needed. After any necessary revisions, we will process and store the data accordingly. If you wish to restrict your data for a certain period before publication, we can accommodate this request.
Step 5 - if you would like to publish your data with a DOI, please provide your DOI-related metadata via the Metadata Editor of GFZ Data Services. Read more.
Submitting unpublished data?
If your heat flow data is not yet published, you can submit it through the GFZ Data Services, a trusted repository for scientific datasets. This allows you to assign a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to your dataset, making it citable and accessible to the research community. Once published, your data can be automatically integrated into the Global Heat Flow Database (GHFDB) while remaining fully attributed to you.
